The AssociationHistoryThe Association of the Friends of the Louis-Philippe Museum at the Château of Eu was founded in 1985 to aid and encourage the museum activities by the late and much regretted Countess of Paris with the support and assistance of Martine Bailleux-Delbecq, curator of the Museum from 1973 to 2006. The Louis-Philippe Museum is not just a museum within a château, but rather a large historical residence whose past has once more come back to life thanks to the gradual return of the former royal collections which had been dispersed through the inheritances and auctions organised by the descendants of King Louis-Philippe. MissionSince its creation the Association has been constantly working to make the Château better known and to expand its collections. The Association naturally encourages gifts and bequests. It assists donors to carry out their projects of contributing to the Louis-Philippe Museum collections as well as to the restoration of the Château and its grounds. Therein lies its essential mission. The Association is organised to welcome all of those who wish to contribute to its aims and provides
OrganisationThe Association of the Friends of the Louis-Philippe Museum at the Château of Eu is made up of its members. The current Honorary President of the Association is Prince Gabriel de Broglie, Chancellor of the Institut de France. Each member whose membership fee is up-to-date may take part in the Annual General Meeting in order to approve the general and financial reports concerning the previous year as well as to elect the members of the Board of Management for a six-year duration. The Board of Management nominates the members of the Managing Committee whose mandate is for two years. This Managing Committee manages the Association following the instructions given by the Board of Management. All the duties performed by members of the board and committee are wholly on a voluntary basis. |
